Overview OmniBus 1553 PMC OmniBus 1553 PMC has the power and flexibility to operate as a simple or intelligent 1553 interface card or as an embedded processor. Its on-board PowerPC processor and ability to run user programs make the OmniBus 1553 PMC unique among PMC cards. It is available with either convection cooled front panel or conduction cooled rear panel I/O. Though not modular like other OmniBus products, it has all OmniBus 1553 features in one or two 1553 channels and a variety of configurations.
OmniBus 1553 Family OmniBus is a highly-flexible and high-performance family of avionics databus interfaces combining a selection of industry-standard platforms (PCI/cPCI, VME, PMC and Ethernet/USB) with a wide-viariety of I/O choices (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 708, ARINC 717, Serial, CSDB and Discrete). This sophisticated OmniBus design allows users to order the exact number, functionality, and mix of protocol channels that they need. It also lets users upgrade or reconfigure their OmniBus (at the factory) as requirements change.
High-Performance Architecture OmniBus products are built using an integrated board, core, and module architecture. PCI, cPCI, and Ethernet/USB boards include 1 or 2 cores, VME boards have up to 4, and PMC boards include a single fixed core. Each on-board core has a dedicated protocol processor, IRIG timer, and 3 sync and 3 trigger lines. These cores are the support circuitry for the I/O modules, which contain the interface to the databus protocol(s). Isolating the protocol interface on the I/O module provides the flexibility to create custom, user-specified configurations for single or mixed protocols. The protocol-specific OmniBus architecture provides a better solution with greater performance than general-purpose modular systems (such as IndustryPack™). Models The OmniBus 1553 PMC modules are available with 1 or 2 dual-redundant 1553 channels. To provide flexibility and economy, each channel can be ordered in one of five levels of functionality (see table below). All levels provide Bus Controller, Remote Terminal or Monitor operation and support all 1553 message types. The higher levels can concurrently simulate multiple terminals, inject errors, and adjust the waveform. Levels of functionality for OmniBus 1553 channels

Software CoPilot The easiest way to use your OmniBus PMC board is with CoPilot, Ballard's Windows-based software. CoPilot is an intuitive, interactive program that simplifies the simulation and testing of avionics systems. CoPilot auto-detection, engineering units conversion, and other features increase user productivity. In CoPilot, you can quickly build transmit schedules and enter and display data in meaningful engineering units. The Sequential Monitor captures, records, filters, displays, and exports databus traffic. CoPilot features include virtual instruments, hardware and software playback modes, and scripting. CoPilot also supports MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 708, ARINC 664/AFDX and limited serial communications. Because CoPilot can host multiple cards, channels, and databuses, it is the ideal tool for operating OmniBus products. CoPilot may be purchased as part of an OmniBus system or separately.
BTIDriver API Alternatively, software developers can use the included Application Program Interface (API) to quickly develop custom applications. OmniBus products can be easily configured and operated with only a few API calls. The comprehensive library also includes a broad range of functions for specialized needs.
Drivers Driver software is available for Windows®, Linux®, LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT, VxWorks®, INTEGRITY® and other operating systems. Availability varies by product. Contact Ballard for specific details for your desired Omnibus product.
PowerPC An SDK is available for advanced users who are developing software to run on the PowerPC (available on OmniBusBox, OmniBus VME, and OmniBus PMC). 產品圖片 | 型號 | 介面 | 協定(通道數) | 重點規格 |

Ordering OmniBus Part Numbers The part number for an OmniBus product is a combination of the platform number, module number(s), CoPilot code, and options. This results in thousands of possible part number combinations. Contact Ballard sales for assistance in determining the best OmniBus order number to fit your needs. Each platform core can accept one module. A core without a module may be used for future expansion.
Example Part Numbers 141-544: Conduction cooled OmniBus PMC board with 2 channel (level C) MIL-STD-1553 141-510: Conduction cooled OmniBus PMC board with 1 channel (level A) MIL-STD-1553
| XXX :: Platform Number # | Description | 111 | PCI w/ 1 core | 112 | PCI w/ 2 cores | 121 | 3U cPCI w/ 1 core | 122 | 3U cPCI w/ 2 cores | 141 | PMC w/ 1 fixed core (MIL-STD-1553 only) | 152 | 6U VME w/ 2 cores and PMC site | 154 | 6U VME w/ 4 cores (no PMC site) | 162 | OmniBusBox w/ 2 cores |
